Although multiple technical and feasibility studies addressing seawater intrusion have been completed, no major seawater intrusion mitigation project has advanced to full approval, funding, or construction. As a result, seawater intrusion continues in portions of the Salinas Valley Basin, increasing long-term risk to groundwater reliability for agricultural, municipal, and domestic users.
