Sutter County · 2025–2026 Civil Grand Jury

Cultivating Compliance: A Review of Sutter County's Agricultural Operations

Examines agricultural services, pesticide enforcement, weights and measures, and industrial hemp regulation. The jury recommends a clear pesticide-fine standard with an explanation on each new notice by January 31, 2027, and adherence to office policies and duty statements in work assignments by October 31, 2026. The Board is required, and the Agricultural Commissioner invited, to respond to R1 and R2. The linked original annual report contains this chapter on physical PDF pages 31–41 (printed pages 24–34).

Response available · Sutter County Board of Supervisors

Board of Supervisors response to agricultural operations

The Board partially disagrees with the pesticide-fine and work-assignment findings. For R1 it claims the standard is implemented but declines the new calculation procedure; for R2 it claims existing assignment policies are followed after a management/HR review. The final response is submitted in concert with the County Administrator and Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer. No separate Commissioner response is supplied.
